Where Are Photoshop Presets Saved?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:57 pm

If you’re wondering where your Photoshop presets are saved, the answer is usually in your Photoshop preferences folder. For Windows, this is usually in C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\[version]\Presets. For Mac OS, it’s in /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings/Presets.

If you can’t find your presets folder, or if it’s empty, it’s likely that you either don’t have any presets saved yet, or your presets got deleted somehow. Fortunately, it’s easy to restore the default presets that come with Photoshop. Just go to Edit > Presets > Restore Default Presets.

PRO TIP: If you are unsure about where your Photoshop presets are saved, it is best to not attempt to change them. Doing so could result in losing access to your presets entirely.

Now that you know where your Photoshop presets are saved, you can start creating your own custom presets to speed up your workflow. To create a new preset, simply go to Edit > Presets > New Preset.

Then give your preset a name and choose which settings to include. When you’re done, click OK and your new preset will be saved in your presets folder.

Conclusion:

So, now you know where Photoshop stores its presets – usually in the preferences folder. If you can’t find your presets or they’ve been deleted somehow, you can always restore the default presets. And finally, if you want to create your own custom presets, simply go to Edit > Presets > New Preset.
