Are Canva Files Print Ready?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 7:24 pm

As a professional graphic designer, I am often asked by clients whether Canva files are print ready. The answer is not as simple as a yes or no.

Canva is a great tool for creating designs for digital use, such as website banners or social media posts. However, when it comes to printing, there are some things to keep in mind.

PRO TIP: Are Canva files print ready?

Please be aware that while Canva provides a handy tool for creating graphic designs, not all files exported from Canva are print ready. It is advisable to check with your printing company first to ensure that they can work with the file type you have exported from Canva.

For one, the resolution of your image will be lower than if you had created the design in a program like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. This means that if you try to print your Canva design at a large size, it may appear pixelated or blurry. For this reason, I generally recommend using Canva for smaller print projects only.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all printers accept files from Canva. When you export your design from Canva, it will save as a PDF.

Some printers require files in a different format, such as JPEGs or TIFFs. Before sending your file off to be printed, make sure to check with your printer to see which file types they accept.

In conclusion, while Canva files can be printed, there are some things to keep in mind before doing so. Resolution is lower than with other design programs, and not all printers accept PDFs. With that said, Canva can be a great option for small print projects.
