Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool, which is primarily web-based and also has offline desktop versions for MacOS, Windows and Linux. The software is free to use for individuals, and there are no subscription plans – you only pay for Figma features that you use.

Figma is used by designers at companies like Google, Facebook, Netflix, Uber, and more. It’s also used by design teams at small businesses and startups. If you’re a student or educator, you can use Figma for free.

There are three ways to use Figma:

  • Online: No download or installation required. You can sign up for a free Figma account and start using the web app immediately.
  • Offline Desktop App: For MacOS, Windows and Linux.

    Requires an internet connection for first setup only.

  • Figma Desktop App (Beta): For MacOS only. Requires an internet connection for first setup only.

PRO TIP: Figma accounts are not free. If you sign up for a free account, you will be limited to three projects. To unlock unlimited projects and other features, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.
