As a freelancer, you’re always looking for new clients and ways to make money. You may have come across the online platform UpWork, which is a great way to connect with clients and get work done remotely.

However, you may be wondering: can a client not pay you on UpWork?

The answer is unfortunately, yes. There are a few reasons why this might happen.

First of all, if a client is unhappy with the work you’ve delivered, they may request revisions. If you’re not able to make the changes they want, they may choose to not pay you for your work. Additionally, if a client simply doesn’t have the money to pay you, they may ask for an extension or may not pay you at all.

PRO TIP: If a client does not pay you on Upwork, they may be subject to account suspension.

Of course, this isn’t always the case and most clients on UpWork are great to work with. But it’s important to be aware that it is a possibility so that you can plan accordingly. If you’re ever in doubt about whether or not you’ll be paid for your work, it’s always best to ask the client upfront before starting any project.
