Can I Change My Shopify Store Address?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:36 pm

When you first set up your Shopify store, you’re asked to choose a shop address, or URL. This is the web address that customers will use to visit your store. For example, if your store’s name is “Gadgets Galore” and you choose the .myShopify URL, your store’s address would be gadgets-galore.myShopify.com.

You can change your shop address from the Domains page in your Shopify admin. To change your shop address:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Domains.
  2. In the Shopify-managed domains section, click Change address.
  3. Enter the new shop address that you want to use, then click Save.

Note: If you have a custom domain name, then you need to update its DNS settings. For more information, refer to Adding a custom domain to your shop. If you’re using a third-party domain name provider, then contact them for instructions on how to update your DNS settings.

If you have a custom domain name, or are using a third-party domain name provider, you’ll need to update its DNS settings. PRO TIP: If you are considering changing your Shopify store address, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, your current URL will no longer work and you will need to set up a new domain name. Second, all of your current customers will need to be notified of the change so that they can update their bookmarks or favorites. Finally, any search engine rankings and links that you have built up for your current site will be lost.
