As the Figma community continues to grow, we’re seeing more and more questions about how to import PDFs into Figma. While we don’t have built-in support for importing PDFs, there are a few ways that you can work around this:
1. Use an online converter
There are a number of online tools that can help you convert your PDF into a format that Figma can understand. We recommend PDFtoImage as a reliable option.
2. Use Adobe Illustrator
If you have access to Adobe Illustrator, you can use the “File > Save As..” function to save your PDF as an .AI file. Once you have your .AI file, you can then import it into Figma.
1. PDFs can only be imported into Figma on the Desktop app.
2. You will need to have the PDF file open in another program (like Adobe Acrobat) in order to import it into Figma.
3. When you import a PDF, Figma will create a new frame for each page in the PDF.
3. Use Sketch
If you’re using Sketch, there’s a handy plugin called PDF to Sketch that will allow you to import your PDF directly into Sketch. From there, you can export your design as an .SVG file and then import that into Figma.
Conclusion
While Figma doesn’t have built-in support for importing PDFs, there are a few workarounds that you can use. We recommend trying one of the online converters, Adobe Illustrator, or Sketch with the PDF to Sketch plugin.
