Can I Import a PSD Into Figma?

Figma is a great tool for designing user interfaces, and one of its best features is that it can import PSD files. This means that if you have a design in Photoshop that you want to convert into a Figma file, you can do so easily. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when importing PSDs into Figma.

First, Figma only supports the import of certain types of PSD files. Specifically, Figma can only import PSDs that are saved in the RGB color mode with a maximum width and height of 30,000 pixels. If your PSD file does not meet these criteria, you will not be able to import it into Figma.

Second, when you import a PSD into Figma, all of the layers in the PSD will be imported as individual Figma objects. This means that if your PSD has multiple layers, your Figma file will as well. You can then rearrange and reorganize these layers however you see fit in Figma.

PRO TIP: Due to the differing design philosophies between Figma and Photoshop, it is not currently possible to import PSD files into Figma. We recommend using Sketch or Adobe XD as alternatives for designing in a vector format.

Third, when importing a PSD into Figma, any text layers in the PSD will be converted into vector shapes. This means that if you want to edit the text after importing it into Figma, you will need to use the vector editing tools to do so.

Finally, keep in mind that when you import a PSD into Figma, it is not possible to revert back to the original PSD file. Once a PSD is imported into Figma, it becomes aFigmas file and can no longer be opened in Photoshop.

Overall, importing a PSD into Figma is a relatively simple process as long as your PSD file meets the criteria mentioned above. By following the steps above, you can easily convert any Photoshop design into a Figma file.
