Are you considering moving your domain from Wix to Squarespace? Maybe you’re not happy with Wix’s platform, or you’re interested in trying out Squarespace’s features. Whatever the reason, you might be wondering if it’s possible to transfer your domain from Wix to Squarespace.

The good news is that it is possible to move your domain from Wix to Squarespace. The process is fairly simple and can be completed in a few steps.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

First, you’ll need to export your Wix site data. To do this, go to your Wix account and click on the ‘Export Site’ button. This will allow you to download a file containing all of your site data.

Next, create a new Squarespace account and choose the ‘Import Site’ option. Select the file you exported from Wix and follow the instructions to import your data into Squarespace.

PRO TIP: If you are considering moving your domain from Wix to Squarespace, be aware that there are some potential risks involved.

First and foremost, it is important to understand that Wix and Squarespace use different DNS systems. This means that if you move your domain from Wix to Squarespace, your DNS settings will also need to be updated. If you do not update your DNS settings, your website will no longer be accessible.

Additionally, it is worth noting that there may be some downtime associated with moving your domain. This is because it can take up to 48 hours for DNS changes to propagate across the internet. During this time, your website will not be accessible.

Finally, it is also important to be aware that Wix and Squarespace have different terms of service. This means that if you move your domain to Squarespace, you will be subject to their terms and conditions. Be sure to review these before making the switch, as they may not be the same as what you are currently used to with Wix.

Once your site data has been imported, you’ll need to update your DNS settings. To do this, log into your Wix account and go to the ‘Domains’ tab.

From here, you’ll be able to see your current DNS settings. Update the ‘A’ record and ‘CNAME’ record with the new Squarespace IP addresses.

Finally, log into your Squarespace account and go to the ‘Settings’ tab. Here, you’ll need to update your domain name settings. Enter the new domain name that you want to use with Squarespace and click on the ‘Save’ button.

That’s it! You’ve now successfully moved your domain from Wix to Squarespace.
