The new High Efficiency Image Container (HEIC) format introduced in iOS 11 uses advanced compression techniques to reduce file size while maintaining excellent image quality. This new format is not compatible with many older applications, including Photoshop. However, there are a few ways to open HEIC files in Photoshop:

If you’re using Photoshop CC 2018 or earlier, you can install the free Adobe Camera Raw plugin to open HEIC files. First, download the plugin from Adobe’s website. Then, unzip the downloaded file and double-click the .exe file to install the plugin.
.heic files are a new file format introduced in iOS 11 that is not yet compatible with Photoshop. If you need to open a .heic file in Photoshop, you will need to first convert it to a different file format such as .jpg or .png. There are many free online converters that can do this for you.
Once the plugin is installed, restart Photoshop and choose File > Open.
