Can I transfer my Squarespace domain to another host?

When you create a Squarespace account, you’re given the option to create a custom domain. If you decide you want to transfer your domain to another host, the process is relatively straightforward.

First, you’ll need to contact your current host and ask them to transfer your domain to your new host. They will need your current account information as well as the new host’s information.

Once they have this information, your host will need to transfer your domain.

PRO TIP: If you are considering transferring your Squarespace domain to another host, we recommend you proceed with caution. While it is possible to transfer your domain, there are a few things to keep in mind that could potentially cause problems. First, your site will be down for a period of time while the transfer is taking place. Second, there is a chance that your site could lose some or all of its search engine rankings during the transition. And finally, if you have any email accounts associated with your Squarespace domain, those will also be affected by the transfer and may no longer work.

Once your domain is transferred, you’ll need to update your DNS records to point to your new host. You can do this using a DNS provider like DynDNS or NS1.

Your new host’s DNS provider will have instructions on how to do this.

Once your DNS records are updated, you’ll need to transfer your website files. You can use a hosting provider like Bluehost or WP Engine to do this.

Finally, you’ll need to update your Squarespace account information. You’ll need your new account information as well as the new host’s information. Once this is done, your website will be up and running on your new host!.
