Can I Withdraw a Proposal in UpWork and Resubmit?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 9:50 pm

When you receive a job proposal on UpWork, you have the option to either accept or decline the proposal. If you decide to decline the proposal, you can do so without penalty.

If you decide to accept the proposal, you and the freelancer will enter into a contract. Once a contract is accepted, both parties are obligated to fulfill the terms of the agreement. If either party breaches the contract, they may be subject to penalties, including but not limited to loss of earnings, removal from UpWork, and legal action.

PRO TIP: If you withdraw a proposal in Upwork, you will not be able to resubmit it.

If you need to cancel a job proposal after accepting it, you can do so within the first three days of the contract period without penalty. After that, you will need to work with the freelancer to determine an equitable resolution, which may include cancelling the project and issuing a refund.

In short, yes, you can withdraw a proposal in UpWork and resubmit it, but there may be consequences depending on when you do so.
