Can XD Import Figma Files?

XD and Figma are both vector-based design tools frequently used by UX and UI designers. They both have their own benefits and drawbacks, but one thing they have in common is that they can both import files from the other program. Here’s a look at how to do it.

If you’re working in XD and you want to import a file from Figma, the first thing you need to do is export the file from Figma as an .svg file. Once you have that, open the file in a text editor like Sublime Text or Atom. You’ll see that the code is organized into different tags.

PRO TIP: There is currently no way to import Figma files into XD. This is a design limitation of the software. Any attempt to do so may result in data loss or software instability.

Each tag represents a different layer in Figma. To import these layers into XD, you need to copy each one and paste it into a new XD document, making sure to create a new layer for each tag. Once you’ve done that, you can style the layers however you want in XD.

Figma also has the ability to import XD files. To do this, simply export your XD file as an .svg file and then open it in Figma. The layers will be automatically imported and you can begin editing them.

Can XD Import Figma Files?

Yes, both programs are compatible with one another and importing files is relatively simple to do.
