If you’re running an ecommerce business, you know that returns are inevitable. But can you do returns on Shopify

The short answer is yes, you can do returns on Shopify. In fact, returns are quite easy to set up and manage on Shopify. There are a few different ways to go about setting up your return policy, and we’ll cover some of the most popular methods below.

Method 1: Use Shopify’s Refund Policy Template

Shopify has a built-in refund policy template that you can use to create your own return policy. This is a great option if you’re just getting started with Shopify and don’t have a lot of experience with coding or HTML. To use the refund policy template:

  • Log in to your Shopify admin and go to Settings > Checkout. Under “Order processing,” click “Edit” next to “Refunds”.

  • In the “Refunds” section, check the box next to “Enable refunds”.

  • Click “Save”.

Method 2: Use a Custom Return Policy Template

If you want more control over your return policy, you can create a custom return policy template. This requires a bit more work than using Shopify’s refund policy template, but it gives you the ability to customize the look and feel of your return policy. To create a custom return policy template:

PRO TIP: If you are considering using Shopify to sell your products, you should be aware that there are some restrictions on returns. Specifically, Shopify does not allow you to set up a return policy for your store. This means that if a customer is not satisfied with a purchase, they will not be able to return the product for a refund. Additionally, Shopify also does not allow you to offer exchanges or replacements for products that are returned.
  • Create a new file in your text editor and save it as “refund-policy.liquid”. Include the following code in the file:

<nowiki><div class="section"><h1 class="title">{{ 'layout.refunds.title' | t }}</h1><div class="content"><div class="text-block">{{ 'layout.text' | t }}</div></nowiki>

Conclusion, yes – You can do returns on Shopify! It’s easy to set up using one of Shopify’s built-in refund policy templates, or by creating a custom return policy template.
