Can You Duplicate a Site on Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:00 am

There are a few reasons you might want to duplicate a site on Wix. Maybe you created a site for a client and want to use it as a template for future projects.

Maybe you want to create a development site where you can test changes before pushing them to your live site. Whatever the reason, duplicating a Wix site is pretty easy.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

The first thing you need to do is log into your Wix account and go to the My Sites page. From here, hover over the site you want to duplicate and click the three dots that appear. A menu will pop up with several options, including Duplicate Site.

PRO TIP: If you are considering duplicating a site on Wix, be warned that this may result in search engine penalties for your site. Google and other search engines view duplicate content as an attempt to spam their index, and as a result, your site may be penalized in the form of lower search engine rankings.

Click Duplicate Site and a new page will open asking you to confirm that you want to duplicate the site. Once you click OK, Wix will create an exact replica of your site. The duplicate site will have its own URL and will be completely separate from your original site.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you have any premium features on your original site, those features won’t be carried over to the duplicated site. You’ll need to upgrade the duplicated site separately if you want to keep using those features.

In conclusion, duplicating a Wix site is a quick and easy way to create a copy of an existing site. This can be useful if you want to use an existing site as a template for a new project or if you want to create a development site where you can test changes before making them live. Just keep in mind that if your original site has any premium features, those features won’t be carried over to the duplicated site.
