Can You Have a Secret Page on Shopify?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 1:34 am

There are a lot of reasons why you might want to have a secret page on your Shopify store. Maybe you’re planning a special sale or event and you want to keep it under wraps until the last minute.

Or maybe you’ve got a new product that you’re not quite ready to launch yet. Whatever the reason, there are a few things you need to know before you can create a secret page on Shopify.

First of all, it’s important to understand that Shopify uses something called an “URL path” to determine which page to show when someone visits your store. This means that the URL (or web address) for your secret page will be visible in the browser’s address bar. So if you’re trying to keep your page completely secret, anyone who knows the URL will be able to find it.

PRO TIP: If you are considering creating a secret page on your Shopify store, be aware that there are some risks involved. Your customers may not be able to find the page, or they may be confused by the lack of navigation. Additionally, secret pages are not indexed by search engines, so they will not be found unless someone knows the direct URL.

There are a few ways to work around this, though. One option is to use a password-protected page. This will add an extra layer of security, since only people with the password will be able to access the page.

Another option is to use Shopify’s built-in “password” feature. This will allow you to set up a password for your entire store, or just for specific pages. Once again, only people with the password will be able to see the pages you’ve protected.

Of course, there are other ways to keep your pages secret, too. You could always set up your own website outside of Shopify and then link to your pages from there. Or you could use a service like Bitly to create short, unique URLs for your pages that are less likely to be guessed by someone who’s trying to snoop around.

Ultimately, it’s up to you how secret you want your pages to be. But with a little planning and creativity, it is possible to keep them hidden from prying eyes.
