Can You Have Multiple Overlays Figma?

The short answer is yes, you can have multiple overlays in Figma. Here’s how:

    1. Create a new frame on the topmost layer.

    2. Draw your overlay shape inside the frame using the rectangle or ellipse tool.

PRO TIP: Overlays are a great way to add extra information or context to your design. However, you should be careful when using multiple overlays in Figma.

If you use too many overlays, it can make your design look cluttered and confusing. Additionally, if you use different styles for your overlays (e.g. different colors or opacities), it can be difficult for viewers to understand the hierarchy of information.

Therefore, when using multiple overlays in Figma, keep it simple and consistent. Use the same style for all of your overlays, and only use as many as necessary to convey the information you need.

    3. Set the fill to your desired color and opacity in the Inspector panel.

    4. Duplicate the frame by selecting it and pressing Cmd/Ctrl+D.

    5. Place the new frame on the layer below the first one.

You can keep duplicating and moving frames down until you have as many overlays as you need. One thing to keep in mind is that each overlay will be slightly offset from the one above it, so you’ll need to adjust the position of each one individually. Also, if you want your overlays to be symmetrical, make sure to draw them that way in the first place; otherwise, you’ll need to flip or duplicate and mirror them manually.
