If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for ways to work smarter, not harder. So when I heard about Figma’s new “prototype between pages” feature, I was intrigued. Could this be the answer to my prayers?
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Figma, it’s a design tool that allows you to create vector graphics and mockups for web and mobile apps. One of its best features is that it’s collaborative, so multiple people can work on a design at the same time.
Figma recently added a new feature that allows you to prototype between pages of your design. This means that you can link together different screens of your app or website so that users can click through them and get a feel for how the final product will work.
Sounds great, right? And it is.. sort of. The problem is that the feature is still in beta, and it’s not quite as polished as I would like it to be.
For one thing, there’s no easy way to link together different pages in your design. You have to create each link manually, which can be time-consuming if you have a lot of pages.
And once you’ve created the links, they’re not always reliable. I’ve had links break on me multiple times, which means I have to go back and fix them.
Another issue is that there’s no way to test your prototypes on real devices. You can only view them in Figma’s web viewer, which isn’t ideal. It would be great if there was a way to test prototypes on actual phones and tablets.
So while the “prototype between pages” feature has potential, it’s not quite there yet. I’m hopeful that Figma will continue to improve it so that we can all take advantage of its power.
Can You Prototype Between Pages Figma?
The answer for now is sort of. Figma recently added a new feature that allows you to prototype between pages of your design but it still has some kinks that need to be worked out.
For one thing, there’s no easy way to link together different pages in your design and links created are often unreliable.
Another issue is that there’s no way to test your prototypes on real devices – only in Figma’s web viewer.
So while the “prototype between pages” feature has potential, right now it might be more trouble than it’s worth.
