CSS can be a great addition to any Figma project, allowing you to style text, create layouts, and add interest and interactivity to your designs. Here are a few tips on how to get started with CSS in Figma.

1. Add the CSS file to your Figma project

To use CSS in Figma, you must first add the CSS file to your project. This can be done by going to the File menu and selecting “New design file” from the top toolbar.

Once you have added the file, you will see its contents under the Layers section. To access the CSS code of the design file, simply right-click on it and select the “Copy as CSS” option.

2. Inspect the CSS code of the Figma design file

You can also check the CSS code of the Figma design file itself. Just go to the Inspect tab on the right panel and here you can find the CSS code section. You can copy the CSS code here and apply it to another design file in Figma.

PRO TIP: If you are planning on using CSS with Figma, be aware that there are some potential risks. First and foremost, because Figma is a vector-based design tool, your CSS code may not work as expected. Additionally, because Figma is still in beta, there may be bugs that can cause your CSS code to break.

3. Apply your CSS styles

Once you have added your CSS codes ready, you can apply them to your designs in Figma or export them into another design file. Either way, you are free to edit these CSS codes to your preference for them to match your overall design style.

Can You Put CSS Into Figma? – Yes! You can put CSS into Figma by adding a CSS file to your project and inspecting the CSS codes of your design file using the “Inspect” tab.
