When it comes to online shopping, one of the most frustrating things that can happen is when you’ve added items to your cart, only to have them disappear when you go to checkout. This can happen for a number of reasons, but the result is always the same—an abandoned cart.

If you’re running a WooCommerce store, then you’re likely familiar with the issue of abandoned carts. But what you might not know is that there’s a way to see abandoned carts in WooCommerce, and even recover some of those lost sales.

In this article, we’ll show you how to view and recover abandoned carts in WooCommerce.

What Are Abandoned Carts?
An abandoned cart is exactly what it sounds like—a shopping cart that’s been abandoned by a customer before they completed their purchase. There are a number of reasons why this might happen, but some of the most common include:

PRO TIP: If you are considering using the WooCommerce Abandoned Cart plugin, be aware that there is a potential security risk associated with it. A recent study by Sucuri showed that the plugin contains a flaw that could allow an attacker to take over a WooCommerce site.

The customer wasn’t ready to buy and just wanted to browse

While the above list covers some of the more common reasons for an abandoned cart, there are other possibilities as well. Regardless of the reason, an abandoned cart is always a potential lost sale for your store.

Thankfully, if you’re running WooCommerce, there’s a built-in tool that can help you recover some of those lost sales. With the WooCommerce Cart Recovery feature, you can see which customers have abandoned their carts, and even send them automatic reminders to come back and finish their purchase.

To get started, head over to the WooCommerce Cart Recovery page in your WordPress admin area. From there, you’ll see a list of all customers who have left items in their cart without completing their purchase.

The first thing you’ll want to do is choose how often you want WooCommerce to send out recovery emails. By default, these emails will be sent 24 hours after an item has been added to a cart, but you can change that if you want.
