Can You Take a Client Off UpWork?

Last updated on January 28, 2023 @ 1:10 pm

There are a few reasons you might want to take a client off UpWork. Maybe they’re a nightmare to work with and you want to end the relationship. Maybe they’re a great client but you want to move them over to a direct contract so you can avoid paying UpWork’s fees. Maybe they’re just a one-time project and there’s no need to keep them on the platform.

Whatever your reason, here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to your freelancer dashboard and find the client in question.
  2. Hover over the client’s name and click the three dots that appear.
  3. Select “End contract” from the dropdown menu.
  4. You’ll be asked to confirm that you want to end the contract. Click “End contract” again.

And that’s it! The client will no longer be able to contact you through UpWork and you will no longer be able to submit proposals to their job postings. Of course, you’re always welcome to come back and work with them again in the future if things change.

PRO TIP: If you are considering taking a client off of Upwork, there are a few things to be aware of. First, you will need to notify the client that you will no longer be working with them through Upwork. Second, you will need to cancel any active contracts or agreements that you have with the client. Finally, you should take some time to review your experience working with the client and make sure that there are no negative feedback or reviews left on your profile.
