In September of 2016, Squarespace announced they had acquired Weebly for $125 million. The acquisition was seen as a move to bolster Squarespace’s position as a web design platform, as well as to expand Weebly’s user base.

At the time of the acquisition, Weebly claimed to have over 26 million users. While it is difficult to estimate how many Squarespace users Weebly has acquired, it is clear that the platform has a sizable user base.

Overall, the acquisition was seen as a success by both companies. Squarespace gained a larger platform to compete with their rivals, and Weebly gained a well-funded company to help them continue to grow their user base.
