Do I Need SSL for Shopify?

You’ve likely heard of SSL, but what is it and do you need it for Shopify? SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, and it’s a protocol that provides a secure connection between a website and a user’s web browser. When SSL is enabled on a site, all data that’s exchanged between the site and the user is encrypted, making it much more difficult for anyone to intercept and read that data.

Shopify includes an SSL certificate on all plans, so you don’t need to worry about purchasing one separately. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using SSL on your Shopify store.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to sell products through Shopify, you will need to purchase an SSL certificate in order to provide a secure checkout experience for your customers. While Shopify does offer some level of security for free, it is not enough to protect your customers’ information during the checkout process. SSL certificates can be purchased from many different companies, and you will need to install it on your Shopify store in order to take advantage of it.

First, you need to make sure that your site’s URL is set to https:// in the Shopify settings. If it’s not, visitors to your site will see a warning message in their browser telling them that the connection is not secure.

Second, you need to make sure that all of the content on your site is served over https:// as well. If there are any elements on your pages that are still being served over http://, those elements will also trigger a warning message in the browser.

So, do you need SSL for Shopify? Yes, if you want to provide a secure experience for your customers and avoid any warnings in their browser.
