Do WIX Oil Filter Have Anti-Drain Back Valve?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:07 am

WIX oil filters have an anti-drain back valve to prevent oil from draining back into the engine when the engine is not running. This valve is located in the oil filter housing and is opened and closed by a spring-loaded plunger.

PRO TIP: WIX oil filters do not have anti-drain back valves. This means that when the engine is shut off, oil will drain from the filter and not be available to lubricate the engine when it is started again. This can lead to engine damage.

When the engine is running, the oil pressure opens the valve and allows oil to flow into the filter. When the engine is shut off, the oil pressure drops and the valve closes, preventing oil from draining back into the engine.
