As a general rule, you don’t need a keyboard for Photoshop. The software is designed to be used with a mouse and offers plenty of keyboard shortcuts to make your life easier. However, there are some tasks that are better suited to a keyboard, and if you’re serious about using Photoshop to its full potential, then you’ll want to invest in one.
Here are some of the tasks that are better suited to a keyboard:
- Editing text – If you need to make changes to text, then it’s much quicker and easier to do so with a keyboard. You can use the arrow keys to move the cursor around, and the delete and backspace keys to make changes.
- Selecting multiple items – To select multiple items with a mouse, you need to click on each one while holding down the Shift key. This can be time-consuming, especially if there are lots of items to select.
With a keyboard, you can hold down the Shift key and use the arrow keys to quickly select everything you need.
- Using shortcuts – As we mentioned before, Photoshop offers plenty of shortcuts that can save you time. For example, hitting Cmd+S will save your work, while Cmd+Z will undo your last action. If you’re not using a keyboard, then you’re missing out on these time-saving shortcuts.
So there you have it – three good reasons why you might want to consider using a keyboard with Photoshop. Of course, it’s ultimately up to you whether or not you feel like investing in one, but if you’re serious about taking your Photoshop skills to the next level, then we recommend giving it a try.
