Figma is a vector graphics editor and online design tool, created by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace. Launched in October 2012, it is free to use with paid plans for more advanced features. Figma has been described as “the Google Docs of design tools” because it enables real-time collaboration between designers, and supports versioning and commenting on individual elements within designs.
Figma is used by designers at companies such as Uber, Airbnb, Twitter, Stripe, Slack, and Netflix. The software is also used in design education, with Figma being taught in universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Figma does not currently have a code output feature, but there are some ways to get code from Figma designs. One way is to use the Overlay plugin from Design+Code, which allows you to generate CSS code for your designs. Another way is to use the ‘Export to Code’ plugin from the Figma Plugin Library, which generates HTML and CSS code for your designs.
So does Figma create code? While Figma doesn’t have a built-in code output feature, there are some workarounds that allow you to generate code from your Figma designs. With the Overlay plugin from Design+Code or the ‘Export to Code’ plugin from the Figma Plugin Library, you can easily generate HTML and CSS code for your designs.
