Does Figma Need to Be Downloaded?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 9:38 am

Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool – the first vector graphics editor that allows users to collaborate in real-time. It is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Figma is free to use, with a paid subscription required for some features.

So, does Figma need to be downloaded?

The answer is no –Figma is available as a web app. However, there are some benefits to downloading the desktop app, which include:

PRO TIP: Figma is a cloud-based design tool that doesn’t need to be downloaded, but there are some potential risks associated with using it. First, because Figma is cloud-based, your designs are stored online and could be subject to hacking or other cyberattacks. Second, because Figma doesn’t need to be downloaded, it’s possible to forget to update it, which could lead to design inconsistencies or other problems.
  • Offline access: With the Figma desktop app, you can continue working on your designs even when you’re not connected to the internet. This is ideal for when you’re on a plane or in an area with spotty internet connection.
  • Faster performance: The Figma web app can be slow at times, particularly when working with large files or many layers. The desktop app is faster and more responsive.
  • More features: Some features, such as exporting assets and commenting on designs, are only available in the desktop app.

So, while you don’t need to download Figma to use it, there are some advantages to doing so. If you’re looking for the best possible experience, we recommend downloading the desktop app.
