As a freelancer, I am always looking for new and innovative ways to make money and to streamline my workflow. I was very excited when I first heard about Fiverr.
Fiverr is an online marketplace that allows you to offer your services, or “gigs”, starting at just $5.00. I thought that this would be a great way to get some extra work and to make some extra money.
I was wrong.
Fiverr is not a great platform for freelancers. In fact, it is downright terrible.
The fees are high, the quality of work is low, and the competition is fierce. If you are thinking about using Fiverr, I would urge you to reconsider.
The fees on Fiverr are exorbitant. When you factor in the cost of the gig and the commission that Fiverr takes, you are lucky if you make any money at all. For example, I offer social media marketing services on Fiverr. I typically charge $100 for a gig.
Out of that $100, Fiverr takes $15 as a commission. That leaves me with $85. Of that $85, I have to pay PayPal $3 as a transaction fee. That leaves me with $82. So, for a gig that should take me no more than an hour to complete, I am making less than minimum wage.
The quality of work on Fiverr is also very poor. This is because most of the people who use Fiverr are from developing countries where the cost of living is low and English is not their first language.
As a result, the quality of work is often poor and full of grammatical errors. This is not the type of work that I want to be associated with and it is not the type of work that my clients are looking for either.
The competition on Fiverr is also fierce because there are so many people offering similar services at rock-bottom prices. This makes it very difficult to stand out from the crowd and to make any sales at all.
So, in conclusion, I would urge you to stay away from Fiverr if you are looking for freelance work. There are much better platforms out there that will give you a better return on your investment.
Users should be aware that there are many scams related to Fiverr. Some users have reported losing money after paying for services that were never delivered. Others have been tricked into paying for fake reviews or fake likes.
Before using Fiverr, be sure to do your research and only use trusted sellers.
