Does Linode block ports?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:54 pm

When it comes to security, there are a few things that Linode takes seriously. One of these is blocking ports that could potentially be used for unauthorized access.

PRO TIP: If you are using a Linode server, be aware that some ports may be blocked. This can cause problems with your website or applications. If you are having difficulties, please contact Linode support.

Linode blocks a number of ports by default, including 22 (SSH), 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS), and 25 (SMTP). If you need to access a port that is blocked on your account, you can contact Linode support and ask them to unblock the port for you.

However, there are a few exceptions to this policy. If you need to access a port that is blocked for security reasons but is necessary for your business, you can contact Linode support and they will allow you to access the port if they believe it is necessary for your business.
