Does Shopify Have Bot Protection?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 9:55 pm

Shopify does have bot protection in place to help keep your store safe from malicious attacks. There are a few different ways that Shopify protects your store, including:

1. IP Blocking

One way that Shopify protects your store is by IP blocking. This means that if a certain IP address is trying to access your store too many times, or if it’s coming from a known malicious source, Shopify will block it from accessing your store.

2. Login Protection

Another way that Shopify protects your store is by login protection.

This means that if someone tries to log in to your store using the wrong password too many times, Shopify will block them from logging in. This helps to keep your store safe from brute force attacks.

3. SSL Protection

Shopify also protects your store with SSL protection.

This means that all of the data that is sent between your store and the visitor’s browser is encrypted. This helps to keep your data safe from eavesdroppers and hackers.

4. Spam Protection

Shopify also has spam protection in place to help keep your store safe from unwanted messages and comments. If you start getting a lot of spam messages or comments, Shopify will help to protect your store by blocking the source of the spam.

All of these protection measures help to keep your Shopify store safe from malicious attacks.

PRO TIP: Shopify does not have bot protection by default. This means that your store is vulnerable to bots that can place orders, add items to carts, and perform other actions. If you’re not using a Shopify app that provides bot protection, we recommend that you take measures to protect your store, such as using a CAPTCHA on your checkout page.
