Does Squarespace Delete Your Website After Trial?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:17 am

When you sign up for a Squarespace trial, you’re asked to enter your credit card information. And while Squarespace doesn’t explicitly state that they’ll delete your website if you don’t upgrade to a paid plan, they do say that they “reserve the right” to do so.

So what does that mean? If you don’t upgrade to a paid plan within your trial period, it’s possible that Squarespace will delete your website. But we don’t think it’s likely.

PRO TIP: If you are using the free trial version of Squarespace, your website will be automatically deleted after 14 days. Make sure to export your data before your trial expires, or you will lose all your content.

Here’s why: first, Squarespace is a business, and businesses want customers.

It wouldn’t make sense for them to delete a website that someone might eventually want to pay for. Second, if Squarespace did delete trial websites after a certain period of time, it would probably be bad for their reputation. People would be less likely to sign up for a trial if they knew their website might be deleted.

So while we can’t say for sure that Squarespace won’t delete your website after your trial ends, we think it’s unlikely. And even if they did, there are plenty of other website builders out there (like Wix or Weebly) that would be happy to have you as a customer.

Conclusion: In conclusion, while Squarespace doesn’t explicitly state that they’ll delete your website if you don’t upgrade to a paid plan, it is possible that they will. However, we think it’s unlikely due to the fact that businesses want customers and it would be bad for Squarespace’s reputation if they did delete trial websites after a certain period of time.
