Does Squarespace take care of sales tax?

When you create a new account with Squarespace, you’re asked to choose a state in which to have your sales tax collected. For example, if you’re in New York, Squarespace will collect sales tax on all orders placed through the Squarespace website.

If you’re not in one of the states that Squarespace collects sales tax, you’ll need to contact your local tax authority to determine how to collect sales tax on your orders.

PRO TIP: Sales tax is a complex and ever-changing area of law, and Squarespace does not provide tax advice. If you have questions about whether or how to collect and remit sales tax, we recommend speaking with a tax professional.

When you create an order, you’ll be asked to provide your address and the amount of sales tax you’re paying. If you have a valid sales tax number, we’ll deduct that amount from the total purchase price before processing the order.

If you don’t have a sales tax number, we’ll charge you the total purchase price and process the order as usual.

If you have any questions about how to collect sales tax on your orders, please contact us at support@Squarespace.com.
