Does Squarespace Use GDPR?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:08 am

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect on May 25, 2018. The regulation is designed to give EU citizens more control over their personal data. It also imposes new requirements on companies that collect, process, or store the data of EU citizens.

Squarespace is committed to GDPR compliance.

We’ve updated our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to reflect our compliance with GDPR. We’ve also made changes to our products and services to help our customers comply with GDPR.

PRO TIP: If you are collecting or storing any data from EU citizens, you need to be compliant with GDPR. Squarespace websites are not automatically compliant with GDPR and you will need to take additional steps to make sure your website is compliant.

Here are some key changes we’ve made:

  • We’ve updated our Privacy Policy to reflect our commitment to GDPR compliance and to provide more information about the personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under GDPR.
  • We’ve made changes to our products and services to help our customers comply with GDPR. For example, we’ve added new features to our website builder that make it easier for customers to add privacy notices and consent forms to their websites.
  • We’ve updated our Terms of Service to reflect our compliance with GDPR. Our Terms of Service now include a Data Processing Addendum (DPA) that sets out our obligations under GDPR.
