Does UpWork Get a Commission?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 10:20 pm

UpWork is a freelancing platform that allows businesses to connect with remote workers for a variety of tasks and projects. While the vast majority of freelancers on UpWork are honest and hardworking, there have been some reports of fraud and scams.

One of the most common questions we get asked is whether or not UpWork gets a commission from the freelancers who use its platform. The answer is no – UpWork does not take a commission from the freelancers who use its site.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about using Upwork to find work, be aware that the site does take a commission from your earnings. While this commission is generally a small percentage of your total earnings, it can still add up over time.

Before signing up for Upwork, be sure to read the fine print and understand all of the fees involved. That way, you can be sure that you are getting the best deal possible.

The only fees that UpWork charges are for membership plans and for certain optional add-ons (such as featured profiles and job posts). All of the freelancers on UpWork set their own rates, and they keep 100% of the money they earn.

So if you’re thinking about hiring a freelancer on UpWork, rest assured that you’re not paying any hidden fees or commissions. You’ll only be responsible for the membership plan you choose and any optional add-ons you decide to use.
