Has AWS ever been hacked?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 5:36 pm

AWS has been hacked on multiple occasions, but it is difficult to say whether or not it has been breached on a large scale. In March 2014, Amazon’s cloud service was hit with a massive attack that compromised 3 million user accounts. In December 2016, an unidentified hacker broke into Amazon’s cloud systems and stole millions of customer records. However, it is not clear whether or not this breach was specifically Targeted at Amazon.

PRO TIP: Yes, AWS has been hacked in the past. In 2015, a hacker gained access to an AWS server and was able to view customer data. In 2016, another hacker was able to gain access to an AWS S3 bucket and view customer data.

In February 2018, AWS was hit with a massive cyberattack that impacted dozens of companies, including Amazon. The extent of the attack is still unknown, but it is believed to have been the largest in history. As of now, it is not clear whether or not AWS was specifically Targeted in this attack. However, it is worth noting that AWS is one of the most vulnerable cloud services, and it is likely that it will be Targeted again in the future.
