How Do I Add a Configurable Product in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 12:52 am

If you’re selling products that come in different variations, such as size or color, then you’ll want to use WooCommerce’s configurable product feature. This will allow your customers to choose the variation they want without having to purchase each one individually. In this article, we’ll show you how to add a configurable product in WooCommerce.

To get started, log into your WooCommerce dashboard and go to Products > Add New. On the next screen, select the Configurable product option from the Product Data dropdown menu.

Once you’ve done that, enter a name and description for your product. Then, scroll down to the Product Data section and select the Attributes tab. Here, you’ll need to add the attributes that will be used for your configurable product variations.

PRO TIP: When adding a configurable product in WooCommerce, be sure to set the product type to “Variable product” and not “Simple product”. If you accidentally set the product type to “Simple product”, you will not be able to add variation attributes.

For each attribute, you’ll need to enter a name (such as Size or Color) and then add the terms that will be used for each variation (such as Small, Medium, Large or Red, Blue, Green).

Once you’ve added all of your attributes and terms, scroll down to the Variations section and click on the Add Variation button. Here, you’ll need to select the attributes that will be used for each variation. For example, if you’re selling shirts that come in different sizes and colors, you would select Size and Color from the dropdown menus.

After that, enter a price for each variation and click on the Save Changes button. Your configurable product is now ready for sale!

Conclusion:

Adding a configurable product in WooCommerce is a great way to offer your customers more choice. By following the steps above, you can easily set up your own configurable products in no time.
