How Do I Add a Custom Domain to Squarespace?

There are two parts to adding a custom domain to Squarespace: registering the domain with a domain provider and then connecting it to your Squarespace site. You can register a new domain or transfer an existing one to Squarespace. Once your domain is registered, you can connect it to your site and choose how you want it displayed.

1. Register your domain with a provider

You can register a new domain or transfer an existing one to Squarespace.

PRO TIP: When adding a custom domain to Squarespace, be sure to use a domain name that is not already in use. Additionally, be sure to set the “A Record” for your custom domain to the Squarespace IP Address.

Other providers

If you choose to register your domain with another provider, you’ll need to set up DNS records with them before you connect your domain to Squarespace. This process varies by provider, so Contact their support for instructions on how to do this.

2. Connect your domain to Squarespace
After you register your domain, sign in to your account and go to the Domains panel. Then, click Add Domain in the top-left corner.
Enter the Domain Name or URL you want to use and click Continue.
If we detect that the DNS records are set up correctly, click Confirm Purchase.
If we can’t automatically verify the DNS records, follow the instructions under Set Up Domain.
When prompted, select I’ve already pointed my DNS records. and click Continue.
Select the site you want to connect the domain to and click Continue.
Review your choices and click Complete Purchase.

3. Set up DNS records (if needed)

If we couldn’t automatically verify your DNS records in step 2, follow these instructions.
