How Do I Add a Favicon to Shopify?

A favicon is a small, 16×16 image that is shown inside the browser’s location bar and bookmark menu when your site is called up. It is a good way to give your site some extra branding and personality, and can help visitors remember your site more easily.

Adding a favicon to your Shopify store is quick and easy, and there are two methods you can use:

The first method is to upload your favicon file directly to the “Files” section of your Shopify admin. To do this, go to “Settings” > “Files” and click the “Upload a File” button.

PRO TIP: Adding a favicon to your Shopify store can be done by following the instructions in this article. However, before you do so, please be aware that there are some potential risks involved.

First and foremost, please note that modifying your Shopify theme can potentially break your store. If you are not comfortable with making code changes to your theme, we recommend contacting a Shopify Expert to help you with this.

Additionally, please be aware that your favicon must be 16×16 pixels in size, and must be in the .ico format. If you try to use a different size or format, it may not work properly on all browsers.

Then, simply select your favicon file from wherever it is saved on your computer and click “Open”. Once the file has been uploaded, you’ll need to copy its URL from the “Files” page and paste it into the field labeled “Favicon Image URL” under “Design” > “Theme Editor”.

The second method is to use a free online favicon generator like Faviconer.com or Favicon.io. These sites will allow you to create a favicon file from an image or logo that you already have. Once you’ve generated the favicon file, you can upload it to the “Files” section of your Shopify admin in the same way as described above.

Both of these methods will add your favicon to your Shopify store successfully. If you ever need to change or update your favicon, simply follow the steps again with your new file.
