How Do I Add Colors to My Figma Library?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 10:25 pm

If you’re looking to add a little color to your Figma library, there are a few different ways to do so. You can either use the color picker tool to select a color from an existing palette, or you can create a new palette by clicking the “+” icon in the upper-left corner of the palette window.

Once you have a new palette created, you can add colors to it by clicking the “Add Color” button in the upper-right corner of the palette window. This will open up a color picker tool, which you can use to select a color from an existing image or by inputting specific values for hue, saturation, and lightness.

Once you have your colors added to your library, you can start using them in your designs by selecting them from the palette window and applying them to objects in your design. You can also create swatches for colors that you use frequently, which makes it easy to apply those colors to multiple objects at once.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, adding colors to your Figma library can be a destructive action. This is because Figma will automatically update all instances of that color in your document, which could break your design.

To add a color to your Figma library:

1. Click the “+” icon in the upper-left corner of the palette window to create a new palette. 2. Click the “Add Color” button in the upper-right corner of the palette window. 3.

Select a color from an existing image or input specific values for hue, saturation, and lightness. 4. Click “OK” to add the color to your library. 5. To use the color in your design, select it from the palette window and apply it to an object in your design.
