Last updated on January 8, 2023 @ 4:17 pm

Adding metafields to Shopify is a great way to add extra data to your products, pages, and blog posts. Metafields are a powerful tool that let you store additional information about your products, customers, and orders. You can use metafields to store things like product SKUs, customer IP addresses, or order notes.

To add a metafield to a product, page, or blog post:

    1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products, Pages, or Blog Posts.

    2. Click the name of the product, page, or blog post that you want to add a metafield to.

    3. In the Metafields section, click Add metafield.

    4. Enter a namespace for your metafield. This is typically something like “inventory” or “customer“.

    5. Enter a key for your metafield. This is the name of the information that you’re storing (for example, “sku” or “ip_address”).

    6. Choose the type of information that you’re going to store in the Value field. You can store text, numbers, images, URLs, or dates.

    7. Enter a value for your metafield in the Value field.

    8. Click Save changes.
