How Do I Add Print Marks in Photoshop?

Last updated on January 26, 2023 @ 2:19 pm

There are a few different ways that you can add print marks to your Photoshop document. One way is to use the “File” menu.

Go to File>Print>Setup. In the “Options” section, check the “Printer’s Marks” checkbox and then click “OK.” This will add a series of print marks to your document, including registration marks and color bars.

Another way to add print marks is to use a Photoshop plugin. There are a few different plugins available, but we recommend using the “Marks and Bleeds” plugin from Richard Rosenman. This plugin makes it easy to add all kinds of print marks, including registration marks, color bars, bleed lines, and more.

Once you’ve added your print marks, you’ll need to style them using HTML. The most common way to do this is to use the < p >, < b >, and < u > tags. The < p > tag will allow you to control the position of your text, the < b > tag will make your text bold, and the < u > tag will underline your text.

To style your print marks, simply select the text layer in your Photoshop document and then click on the “HTML” button in the “Text” section of the “Layer” menu. A new window will open up with a bunch of code in it.

Find the code for your print mark, it will be wrapped in < p > tags) and then add the < b > and/or < u > tags around it. For example, if you want your registration mark to be bold and underlined, you would change the code from this:

Once you’ve made your changes, simply click “OK” and your print mark will be styled accordingly.

PRO TIP: This article provides instructions on how to add print marks in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that print marks should only be added to final artwork that is ready to be printed. Adding print marks to artwork that is not yet complete can result in unwanted changes to the artwork.
