How Do I Add Variants in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 1:02 am

When you have a product that comes in different versions, such as sizes, colors, or materials, you can use product variants to keep track of all the different options. In WooCommerce, variants are set up for products as a product attribute. Each attribute has a name (for example, color) and then one or more values (for example, blue, green, or red).

To set up product variants:

1. Go to Products > Attributes.

2. Select AddAttribute from the dropdown menu.

3. Enter a name for the attribute (for example, color) and then click Add Attribute.

4. Repeat steps 2-3 for each attribute you want to add.

5. Once you have added all the attributes, go to Products > All Products and select the product you want to add variants to.

6. Scroll down to the Product Data section and select the Attributes tab.

7. Select each attribute from the dropdown menus and then enter the values for each option (for example, blue, green, or red).

Make sure you select Used for variations checkbox for each attribute. Save your changes when you’re done.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, adding variants in WooCommerce can break your site. Make sure to backup your site before adding any variants, and test your changes on a staging site before pushing them to your live site.

Adding product variants in WooCommerce is a great way to keep track of all the different versions of a product that you offer. By setting up attributes and values for each variant, you can easily manage inventory and keep customers informed about all the available options.

With WooCommerce, adding product variants is easy and only takes a few minutes. Simply create attributes for each variant (such as size or color), and then add values for each option under those attributes. Be sure to check the Used for variations box for each attribute so that WooCommerce knows to treat those values as variants.
