How Do I Authenticate a Domain on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 28, 2022 @ 7:59 pm

If you have a domain through Squarespace, you can authenticate it by following these steps:

    1. Log into your Squarespace account and go to the Domains panel.

    2. Click on the domain you want to authenticate.

    3. In the Domain Settings panel, scroll down to the Authentication section.

    4. Enter the code that was provided to you by your domain registrar.

    5. Click Authenticate Domain.

That’s it! Your domain is now authenticated and you can start using it with your Squarespace site.

What is domain authentication?

Domain authentication is a process that verifies that you own the domain you’re trying to use with Squarespace. Once your domain is authenticated, we’ll be able to provide certain features like custom email addresses and G Suite integration. Authentication also allows us to automatically set up DNS records for you, so your domain works seamlessly with your Squarespace site.

PRO TIP: If you are not the rightful owner of the domain, do not attempt to authenticate it on Squarespace. This could result in legal action against you.

How do I know if my domain is already authenticated?

If you see a green checkmark next to your domain in the Domains panel, that means it’s already been authenticated. No further action is needed.
