If you’re planning to cancel your Shopify domain, there are a few things you need to know. First and foremost, you need to understand that once you cancel your domain, it’s gone for good. There’s no turning back, so make sure you’re absolutely certain that you want to do this. Secondly, you need to be aware of the implications cancelling your domain may have on your store.
If you’re using a custom domain (one that you’ve bought from a domain registrar like GoDaddy), then cancelling your Shopify domain won’t have any impact on your store whatsoever. However, if you’re using aShopify-provided .myShopify.com domain, then cancelling your Shopify account will also cancel your domain. This means that your store will no longer be accessible at that URL and any email addresses associated with yourdomain@myShopify.com will no longer work.
With all that in mind, here’s how to cancel your Shopify domain:
1) Log into your Shopify admin
2) Go to Online Store > Domains
3) Find the domain you want to cancel and click the trash can icon next to it
4) Confirm that you want to delete the domain by clicking OK in the popup window
And that’s it! Your Shopify domain has now been cancelled and will no longer work. If you change your mind later on down the road, you’ll need to buy a new domain and start from scratch.
