How Do I Cancel My UpWork Contract?

If you’re not happy with the freelancer you’ve hired on UpWork, you may want to cancel your contract. Here’s how to do it:

First, go to the My Jobs page and find the contract you wish to cancel. Then, click the More button next to the freelancer’s name and select End Contract from the drop-down menu.

PRO TIP: If you are considering cancelling your Upwork contract, please be aware that there may be fees associated with doing so. Upwork contracts are typically cancelled by the client, and there is a $30 fee for doing so. However, if the freelancer cancels the contract, they may be charged a $60 fee. Be sure to read the cancellation policy in your contract before taking any action.

You’ll be taken to a page where you can give a reason for ending the contract and leave feedback for the freelancer. Once you’ve done that, click End Contract.

The freelancer will be notified that the contract has been ended and will have 14 days to dispute it. If there’s no dispute, the contract will be closed and you’ll receive a refund for any unworked hours.

Conclusion:

Ending a contract on UpWork is simple enough – just go to the My Jobs page, find the contract in question, click More > End Contract, and fill out the requisite information. The freelancer will have 14 days to dispute the contract before it’s officially closed.
