Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 1:05 am

You have a few products in your WooCommerce store and want to make one of them a variable product. This can be done easily from the product edit page. Here’s how:

1. From the WordPress admin panel, go to Products > All Products.

2. Click on the product you want to make variable, then click Edit.

3. Under Product Data, select Variable product from the dropdown menu.

4. Configure the product attributes that will be used for variations.

These are set up in Attributes > Product Attributes. If you need to create a new attribute, you can do so from here. Each attribute will appear as a dropdown menu on the frontend of your store.

5. Create variations for the product by selecting Add Variation from the variations section. For each variation, you’ll need to select the attributes that will be used, as well as enter a SKU, price, and stock quantity. You can also add an image if needed.

6. Publish or save your changes, and your variable product will be ready for sale!

Now that you know how to change a simple product to a variable product in WooCommerce, you can start offering more variety to your customers. With variable products, you can offer products with different sizes, colors, or other attributes without having to create separate products for each variation. This can save you time and help keep your inventory organized.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about changing a product from Simple to Variable in WooCommerce, there are a few things you should know. First, when you change a product from Simple to Variable, any existing stock for that product will be lost. Second, any existing orders for the product will be cancelled. Finally, any product reviews will also be deleted.
