How Do I Change Master Components in Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 8:56 pm

Figma is a vector drawing and animation software with a web-based interface. It is used by designers to create vector illustrations, wireframes, and prototypes. Figma has a free version and a paid subscription with more features.

To change master components in Figma, first select the component you want to change. Then, click on the “Edit” button in the top bar.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful when changing master components in Figma, you could end up inadvertently changing other components that use the same master. This could cause unexpected and undesirable results in your design.

A sidebar will appear on the right side of the screen. In the sidebar, click on the “Master” tab. From here, you can change the name, description, and content of the component.

When you’re finished making changes, click the “Save” button in the bottom right corner of the sidebar. Your changes will be applied to all instances of the component across your project.
