How Do I Change Meta Tags on Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 3:20 pm

You can change your shop’s meta tags to better reflect your brand, products, and customers. Meta tags are the HTML elements that provide information about your website to search engines and web browsers. They help search engines understand what your website is about and how to index it, and they help browser users identify your website when they see it in search results.

To change your shop’s meta tags:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences. 2.

In the Meta Tags section, enter the new meta tags that you want to use. 3. Click Save.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with HTML and Shopify’s Liquid templating language, we recommend that you hire a Shopify Expert to help you with this. Messing with your Meta Tags can break your site if done incorrectly.

Your shop’s meta tags will be updated immediately. You can preview how your shop will appear in search results by using the Google Rich Results Test.

Meta tags are a vital part of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). They are used to help search engines index your website correctly and to give users an accurate description of your site when it appears in search results. Changing your shop’s meta tags can be a great way to improve your SEO and attract new visitors to your site.
