How Do I Change My Custom Domain on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 23, 2022 @ 9:10 am

If you’re using a custom domain through Squarespace, you can change it at any time from your site’s Home Menu. Here’s how:

1. Log into your Squarespace account and enter your site editor

2. In the Home Menu, click Settings

3. Under Website, click Domains

4. Select the domain you want to change from the drop-down menu, then click Change Domain

5. In the pop-up window, enter the new custom domain you want to use and click Change Domain

And that’s it! Your custom domain will be updated across your entire site.

PRO TIP: If you are using a custom domain on Squarespace, be aware that changing your domain name can have unintended consequences.

Changing your domain name can result in your website being unavailable for a period of time while the DNS changes propagate. In addition, any email addresses associated with your old domain name will no longer work. Finally, any links to your website that use the old domain name will no longer work.

Note:
– If you’re using a third-party DNS provider, you’ll need to update your DNS records after changing your domain. For more information, visit our help guide on DNS records.
– If you have any questions about changing your custom domain, our Customer Support team would be happy to help.
