How do I change nameservers on Namecheap?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:30 pm

Changing the name servers on Namecheap is a fairly simple process. To do so, open the Namecheap Control Panel and click on the Domain Names section.

From here, you can click on the Name Servers link on the left-hand side of the screen.

Once you’ve clicked on the Name Servers link, you’ll be able to see all of the name servers that Namecheap currently uses. To change the name servers, you first need to identify which name server is currently serving your domain.

To do this, click on the Server name link next to the name server that you want to change.

PRO TIP: If you are changing your nameservers on Namecheap, please be aware that this will change the DNS records for your domain and could cause your website to become inaccessible. Please make sure that you have a backup of your DNS records before making any changes.

Once you’ve clicked on the Server name link, you’ll be able to see all of the records for that name server. The first column in this table is the name of the domain, and the second column is the IP address of the name server.

To change the name server, you need to enter the new IP address for the name server in the IP address field.

Once you’ve entered the new IP address, click on the Update button to update the name server records. Once the name server records have been updated, you’ll be able to see the new name server in the Name Servers table.

You can also test the new name server by refreshing your browser window and trying to access your domain from the new name server.
