How Do I Change the Default Order Status in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:02 pm

If you want to change the default order status in WooCommerce, you can do so by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Orders. From here, you can select the default order status for new orders.

The options are: Pending, On Hold, Processing, Completed, Cancelled, or Refunded. You can also choose whether to send an email notification to the customer when the order status changes.

Once you have changed the default order status, all new orders will be set to that status. If you want to change the status of an existing order, you can do so by going to WooCommerce > Orders and selecting the order you want to change. From here, you can select a new status from the “Order Status” drop-down menu.

PRO TIP: If you are not comfortable with code or are not a developer, we recommend that you seek help from a developer before proceeding. Making changes to your WooCommerce order status settings can have unintended consequences on your store if not done correctly.

You can also bulk edit the status of multiple orders by selecting them and then using the “Bulk Actions” drop-down menu. The options here are: Delete, Mark as Pending, Mark as On Hold, Mark as Processing, Mark as Completed, or Cancel Orders. Once you have made your selection, click the “Apply” button.

Conclusion

Changing the default order status in WooCommerce is a simple process that can be done in a few clicks. By doing so, you can ensure that all new orders are set to the correct status, and that customers are notified of any changes.
